The Yacht Captains currently investigating the interest and relevance of forming a Yacht
Captains Association have organized a SEMINAR to be held on Monday 28 October 2013.
The SEMINAR will be held in a private room at Bistro Mezzaluna, 1821 SE 10th
Lauderdale. The room will be open at 6 pm with the seminar to begin promptly at 6.30 pm.
Topic and Purpose
The SEMINAR will be comprised of two distinct parts…..
“Professionalism and Ethics in the Yachting Industry – A Captains Perspective”
The speaker will be Mr. Ken Hinckling – Executive Officer/President of the International
Ken will be presenting the ISS perspective on professionalism and ethics and will challenge
Captains to consider the topic from their perspective and what role they can play in
improving industry standards.
2. An open forum about the proposed Yacht Captains Association. Capt. Ian Bone and
Capt. Michael Schueler, will be opening the discussion with a presentation concerning
the proposed establishment of a Yacht Captains Association. Other panel members,
Wendy Umla and Chris Lewis, will be giving their perspective about the formation of an
organization for Yacht Captains.
The panel will then open the discussion to the attending Captains for questions and
comments. The discussion will run no later than 8 pm.
